Thoughts and feelings can be expressed using art materials, when words are difficult.

Who Can Benefit from Art Therapy?

Each person is treated without judgement, with sensitivity and as a unique individual.

Children, young people, adults and the elderly can all benefit from Art Therapy. Anyone struggling to deal with their emotions or thoughts may find it useful.

Clients may have a wide range of difficulties, disabilities and diagnoses. These include emotional, behavioural or mental health problems, learning or physical disabilities, life limiting conditions, neurological conditions and physical illnesses.

Sometimes when we feel upset or anxious we find ways of comforting ourselves or releasing tension that are not always helpful, ie self-harm, eating, drugs/alcohol, aggression, disruptive behaviours etc. These can then cause further problems, making the situation worse.

Art Therapy can help by providing a healthy way to express and explore your problems. This allows you to move on in your life in a more positive manner.

I enjoyed Art Therapy because I was able to let my feelings out using art – client

It helped me by showing me I wasn't the only one struggling – client
